Wet ‘n’ Wild Reaches 35,000 Likes on Facebook

Last week, Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas reached 35,000 “Likes” on Facebook. Our client has seen an overwhelming amount of support on social media since the announcement of the water park’s return to the Vegas Valley. This milestone also marked the end of a contest where a random fan of the page received two season passes to the park. The page has been home to many other contests including the Wave Pool Naming contest, which boasted 1300 entries.

The Wet ‘n’ Wild social media platforms are a great source of information about our client, answering questions and providing information with daily postings. Images are the most popular element, as people swarm to look at pictures of the park’s construction progress. Check out some of the great photos below!

Providence and Mountain’s Edge Among Top Selling Master Plans

Two Southern Nevada master planned communities, both owned by our client Focus Property Group, are again in the top 10 fastest-selling master plans in the United States. Mountain’s Edge and Providence rank in the top 10 in annual surveys of net sales by two leading real estate industry research and consulting firms, RCLCO and John Burns Real Estate Consulting, LLC. Mountain’s Edge and Providence are the only Nevada communities in the top 10.

Mountain’s Edge, a 3,500-acre master planned community in southwest Las Vegas, was the fifth fastest-selling master plan in the country in 2012 with 948 net sales, a 118 percent increase from 2011. Providence, a 1,200-acre master plan in northwestLas Vegas, was No. 6. with 760 net sales, an 81 percent increase from the previous year. In the 2011 surveys, Mountain’s Edge ranked No. 7 with 434 net sales; andProvidence was No. 8 with 421 net sales.

Helldorado Days Launches New Website

Our client, Helldorado Days, just launched a brand new, beautiful website. Helldorado Days, the oldest civic event in Las Vegas (NEED COMMA) will take place this year from May 16 – 19, 2013. The event, put on by Elks Lodge # 1468, donates 100 (PERCENT) of ticket proceeds to local children’s and veteran’s charities.
The new website will allow visitors to easily navigate through the history of Helldorado Days, schedules of events, and even purchase tickets.

Client Spotlight – Nevada Connections Academy

Students attending the Nevada Connections Academy didn’t board the school bus on the first day or school. Instead, these students logged in. Nevada Connections Academy is a free virtual public school for students K-12 and operates statewide. It is just like a traditional bricks and mortar school– the only difference is that the students attend from home or wherever they are accessing the school via internet.

NCA is a teacher-directed environment with real, live, local, certified teachers putting together lesson plans, delivering instruction and assigning grades. The school uses the highest quality curriculum and students receive real textbooks, a loaned computer and all of their other learning materials (science kits, manipulatives, PE equipment such as jump ropes) at no cost.

Michele Voelkening at Purdue Marion has had the pleasure of working with Nevada Connections Academy since it first came to Nevada five years ago. Since then she has also started working with its school in Texas. Education has always been very important to Michele. She finds it especially gratifying to raise awareness about the schools so they can provide even more students with a high-quality education.

This is very different that home schooling. Rather, this is a home-based learning environment. At Nevada Connections Academy, parents are not asked to play the role of the teacher. Instead, they are learning coaches.

Each student is given his/her own learning plan. Students are evaluated and given a learning plan that is tailored specifically to them and their strengths and weaknesses.

Students participate in clubs, write for the student newspaper, go on field trips just at they would in a traditional setting. Since it is a public school, the same requirements exist as far as shot records, vacation days and the students receive a diploma upon graduation. And colleges are receptive to the graduates. Connections Academy graduates have been accepted to many of the nation’s leading colleges and universities.

Virtual education continues to be one of the fastest growing trends in education. There are many reasons why more students are choosing an online learning environment for their education. For some students they need a flexible schedule because they are actors or athletes who have to travel quite a bit. Some of the parents have jobs that require a great deal of travel. Some students have physical disabilities that make it difficult to sit in a classroom for eight hours a day. Some families are just looking for a different option.

Dress for Success about to start S.O.S. (Send One Suit) Weekend this Thursday.

This Thursday, March 1 through Sunday, March 4 Dress for Success Southern Nevada, an affiliate of the international not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women, will start is S.O.S. (Send One Suit) Weekend.

“This annual campaign encourages women to donate one new or nearly-new interview suit to help another woman enter the workforce and take charge of her life,” said Paige Candee, Dress for Success Southern Nevada founder. “These donations will greatly help women in Southern Nevada to achieve self sufficiency.”

“Because of Dress for Success, I believe in myself again,” said Sahna Aubert, a Dress for Success client. “I starting believing in myself again and realized I was worth something.”

Owner Jeffrey Fine cuts the 10th anniversary ribbon held by two Best Buddies buddies Vanessa and Michelle. They are joined by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf President and COO Philip Patent.

Congratulations to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Nevada for celebrating its 10th anniversary this week. The first neighborhood franchise in Southern Nevada was opened by entrepreneur Jeffrey Fine on Lake Mead Dr. and Tenaya Way in January 2002, and the company has since grown to 16 locations in the Las Vegas Valley and has seen revenues grow, store expansions and job creation even in the midst of a severe economic recession. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman attended the celebration yesterday and acted as the officiant as The Coffee Bean “renewed its vows” to the community, its employees and the Southern Nevada economy.
