Create holiday memories today at Hometown Holidays at Providence
— Free event, family activities, bring canned goods for Three Square —
Get “Frozen” with Anna, Elsa and Olaf at today’s Hometown Holidays festivities from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park in the Providence master planned community. The neighborhood park is located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, just off the North 215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.
Along with characters from Disney’s “Frozen,” Santa Claus, the Grinch, and P.D., the 7-foot-tall caramel-colored “Providence Dog” mascot, are attending and available for photos. Special holiday picture package opportunities with Santa Claus include a complimentary Hometown Holidays at Providence frame.
The free event begins with lighting a Christmas tree followed by a variety of holiday-themed activities. They include games under a carnival tent, giant slide with an elf attendant, rides on the “Providence Express” train and costumed ponies for those under 65 lbs., freeze dance, and cookie decorating. Attendees can create holiday cards for soldiers, and Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa arts and crafts, including Christmas ornaments, Star of David, and Kwanzaa necklaces.
There also will be caroling, a DJ, snow machines, a light show at P.D.’s house and hot chocolate, the latter free for Providence residents and $1 for non-residents. The Curbside Café, Sausagefest, Senor Blues, World’s Greatest Corndogs and America’s Best Coffee food trucks will be selling tasty items for late lunch, snack and dinner options.
“This is such a fun event for the whole family in making the holidays memorable,” said Jenna Bell, lifestyle director of the Providence Master Homeowners Association. “We brought back some favorites from our first Hometown Holidays, and are introducing some new interactive and themed activities that are sure crowd-pleasers. We also wanted to provide a great shared holiday experience, and way to show the giving spirit through a canned food donation for people in need and making cards to send messages of cheer to the men and women serving our country.”
Attendees are invited to bring canned goods and other non-perishable items to benefit Three Square, a nonprofit food bank that helps nearly 100,000 individuals monthly and works with more than 1,300 partner sites – including nonprofit and faith-based organizations, schools, and after-school and feeding sites – in times of crisis and hunger.
Setting the event stage are lighted park decorations and a 10-foot-tall holiday house for P.D., designed and sponsored by Stage House, a Las Vegas-based design company. Other Winter Wonderland decorations throughout the master plan will be displayed through Jan. 2.
In addition to Hometown Holidays activities, Knickerbocker Park features tot lots, swing set, dog park with small and large dog areas, splash pad, youth baseball field, multi-use events field, jogging path with exercise stations, and picnic areas. The park’s design and location provides spectacular views of the entire Las Vegas Valley.
Hometown Holidays at Providence is sponsored by the Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowner’s Association, and Stage House.
Before and after the event, attendees are invited to tour the 1,200-acre master plan and its variety of neighborhoods by nationally recognized homebuilder partners.
